Tuesday primaries highlights
Here are some highlights from Tuesday’s primary elections.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) won his primary and will face Democratic nominee Stacey Abrams in a re-match of the governor’s race. Kemp defeated Abrams in 2018.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) defeated her challengers in the primary. She is from a heavily Republican district so it’s likely she will defeat her Democratic opponent in November and get another term in Congress.
Herschel Walker won Georgia’s Republican primary and will go up against current Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in November.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders won the Republican nomination for Arkansas governor.
North Korea launches 3 test missiles as Biden leaves Asia
South Korea informed USA that North Korea test launched a suspected intercontinental ballistic missile and two shorter-range weapons to the sea on Wednesday (today) just hours after President Joe Biden finished his trip to Asia. When President Biden was in Asia, he restated U.S. commitment to defend U.S. allies against North Korea’s nuclear threat.
If confirmed, then these test missiles would be North Korea’s first ICBM launch in about two months since it’s been stalled. This recent March, North Korea mentioned that they tested launched their most powerful ICBM which violated U.N.’s resolution related to long-distance launches.
The tests were North Korea’s seventeenth round of missile launches this year.

Three hurt and one died from cliff fall in California
In Palos Verdes Estates, California, three people were hurt and one person dead after falling off a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean. What seemed to have happened is that a woman lost her step and slipped over the cliff, the others tried to save her from falling, but also fell off the cliff as well.
No foul play is suspected, but it is suspected that they have been drinking. The cliff is about 200 to 300 feet high. One of the men who also fell down the cliff suffered minor injuries and was able to climb back up to get help. The other two women were rescued by the county firefighters who rappelled from a helicopter. The fourth person, a 25 years old man, died on the scene.
It was mentioned in the articles that the area where the fall happened had loose soil and no fencing. People should always take caution.
NASA captures the eruption of “Sharkcano”
Just now NASA captured an eruption of an undersea volcano, Kavachi aka “Sharkcano.” The image shows a plume of discolored water coming from the undersea volcano. The Kavachi volcano is near Solomon Islands and is one of the most active undersea volcano. It is nicknamed “Sharkcano” because of an expedition that happened in 2015 and people found two species of mutant sharks and other types of fish living inside the volcano. So, this discovery suggested that large marine mammals are able to tolerate hot and acidic water. This volcano erupts often and residents nearby mentioned that sometimes they do see steam and ash coming from the water- where the volcano is.
