Woman says ‘God’ told her to go on a shooting spree because of solar eclipse

According to officials, a woman recently checked out of a hotel and told the staff that ‘God’ told her to go on a shooting spree because of the solar eclipse.

Florida Highway Patrol said 22-year-old Taylon Nichelle Celestine was driving a purple Dodge Challenger when she entered I-10.

Within a few minutes, Celestine fired multiple shots into a vehicle, striking the car multiple times. Officials said the driver was grazed on the arm by a bullet but was able to escape from Celestine.

The shooting spree continued and Celestine shot at another vehicle, hitting the driver in the neck. But the victim survived and was being treated at a hospital.

Authorities were able to pull Celestine over and recovered an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun in the car.

She was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and improper discharge of a firearm.

Engine cover of Southwest Airlines plane comes off during takeoff

An engine cover on a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 fell off on Sunday during takeoff in Denver and struck the wing flap, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to open an investigation.

The Boeing aircraft bound for Houston Hobby airport with 135 passengers and six crew members abroad climbed to about 10,300 feet before returning 25 minutes after takeoff – no one was injured.

Horrifying video showed the plane parts flapping in the wind as the plane moved through the air.

Southwest Flight 3695 returned safely to Denver International Airport around 8:15 a.m. local time on Sunday and was towed to the gate after losing the right-side engine cowling (a metal covering the engine).

Southwest declined to say when the plane’s engine had last had maintenance.

The incident is the latest in a string of safety concerns and terrifying sights involving Boeing planes.

NY appeals judge denies Trump’s request to delay his April 15 hush money trial

A New York appeals court judge on Monday rejected former President Trump’s bid to delay his April 15 hush money criminal trial while he fights to move the case out of Manhattan – foiling his latest attempt to put off the historic trial.

Trump’s lawyers asked to postpone the trial indefinitely while they seek a change of venue. One of Trump’s lawyers, Emil Bove, argued that his presumptive Republican nominee client faces “real potential prejudice” as a defendant in heavily Democratic Manhattan.

Trump has suggested on social media that the trial should be moved to Staten Island, the only New York City borough he won in 2016 and 2020.

The hush money trial is the first of Trump’s four criminal indictments slated to go to trial and would be the first criminal trial ever of a former president.

The jury selection is scheduled to start next Monday.

Lawyer fatally shoots ex-daughter-in-law, fellow attorney then self in Las Vegas law firm

Investigators said a lawyer fatally shot his former daughter-in-law, as well as a fellow attorney, during a child custody battle at a Las Vegas law firm Monday morning.

The shooter, Joe Houston, opened fire at the Prince Law Group office in Summerlin during a child custody deposition of his son, Dylan Houston, whom he had been representing.

The other lawyer, Dennis Prince, was representing his own wife, Ashley Prince, who was the former daughter-in-law of the shooter and opposing counsel. Ashley was married to the shooter’s son, Dylan.

The alleged gunman, Joe, died after he turned the gun on himself. His son, Dylan, survived.

Police said two victims were very specific targets and it is domestic-related.

Robert Eglet, an attorney working at the office, told FOX5 that the attorney who was slain was his former law partner and that they had known each other for 30 years. He said, “Dennis was a very good guy. He was one of the finest trial lawyers in the state of Nevada. It’s tragic, and it’s senseless.”

Alex has an update to share about the 2024 NCAA men’s basketball championship.

UConn beats Purdue for sixth NCAA men’s national title

Thanks, Callie.

The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team won the NCAA championship for the second straight year when they defeated Purdue last night 75-60.

UConn is the first team to win back-to-back titles since Florida in 2006 and 2007.

Purdue had a successful year with their star player Zach Edey, who is 7’4 tall, but the team did not have enough answers for UConn.

UConn coach Dan Hurley said he believes his back-to-back titles are one of the most impressive feats in history because he lost several of his major players from last year and had to build a new team.

Hurley plans to stay with UConn and wants to win a third straight title.

Thanks for that update. That is all the top stories for today. See you tomorrow and stay with the light!
