Here are today’s political news briefs.

President Donald Trump is still fighting the results of the 2020 election and saying that he will win. He has continued to claim that there was massive fraud.

A federal judge in Pennsylvania dismissed one of Trump’s lawsuits to challenge election results. The judge said he didn’t see evidence to disenfranchise 7 million votes in the state. The lawsuit was led by Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, and the judge said he simply did not provide compelling legal arguments and factual proof. The Trump campaign filed an appeal and there will be a review by a higher court, the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.

President-elect Joe Biden is making hiring decisions for his cabinet. News reports said he has chosen Antony Blinken as the Secretary of State. Blinken was the deputy secretary of state during the Obama administration.

He is in the famous photo of the Situation Room during the 2011 raid to kill Osama bin Laden. You can see him in the red circle in this picture.

Today it was reported that Biden plans to name Avril Haines as the director of national intelligence, which would make her the first female leader in that position. It was also reported that Biden plans to nominate Alejandro Mayorkas to lead the Department of Homeland Security, and he would be the first Latino in that position.
