Worldwide there have been more than a million new cases of Covid-19 in the past week. The majority of the cases are in the U.S. and Brazil. The WHO (World Health Organization) said until we have a vaccine, we will have to focus on saving lives by doing what is necessary to not allow the virus to spread. The WHO said it’s not too late to turn things around, but warned that if government leaders didn’t take action to ensure people were socially distancing, wearing masks, and washing their hands, things can get worse.

This morning Daniel Lewis Lee was executed via lethal injection at a federal prison in Indiana. It is the first execution by the federal government in 17 years. He was found guilty of killing a family of three in Arkansas that included a 8-year-old girl. Comet NEOWISE visible to Earth

When a once in a lifetime opportunity happens, we usually grab it, right? Well, according to the International Dark - Sky Association, you will be able to catch a glimpse of a comet passing by which will not happen again until the next 6,800 years.

The comet’s name is “NEOWISE.” It is usually rare for people to be able to see a comet without needing equipment such as telescopes.

The “last great comet” Hale-Bopp was seen in 1997 and was visible for a year and a half. NEOWISE is not the same, but it is still visible. NEOWISE has been visible about an hour before sunrise.

The opportunity to see this comet is soon ending. This comet will be visible to the northern hemisphere through July.

I looked at a CNN article for tips on how to see this comet - I will share a few here.

Before July 14th, you could see the comet before sunrise, but now after July 14th, you can see the comet in the evening sky.

Chances of seeing the comet better is to avoid areas that have a lot of light pollution.

Seems the comet is near the  Big Dipper area.

July 23rd will be the day that the comet will be closest to the Earth, but by that time you will need binoculars.

Wow, this sounds like a cool opportunity. I will try to see if I can spot it tonight! If you spot it, try to take a picture of it and post it! Good luck.

That’s all for now. See you tomorrow. Don’t forget to take a picture of the comet if you can! Stay with the light.
