A witness told CNN that he was walking his dog nearby around 1:30 in the morning when he felt the ground shake and heard the collapse. He said he saw a little boy’s hand sticking above the rubble and helped to save him, but that his mother was still trapped.

Officials said they are concerned there will be more fatalities because the building “pancaked.” CNN explained that the condo was built in the 1980’s and has 136 units.

A few weeks ago news broke that 215 unmarked graves were found at a former indigenous residential school in British Columbia.

Researchers say in the late 1800’s up to the 1990’s, almost 150,000 Indigenous children were separated from their families and sent to government-funded, church-run boarding schools in an attempt to strip them of their identities and languages and assimilate them into Canadian society. Many were subject to physical and sexual abuse and it is believed that over 3,000 died. Many school leaders chose to bury the bodies nearby instead of sending them back to their families.

Axios reported that Rudy Giuliani has been “suspended from practicing law in the state of New York due to his false statements about the 2020 election.”

A court in New York made the decision in response to a complaint. They said Giuliani made “demonstrably false and misleading statements to courts, lawmakers and the public at large in his capacity as lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump.”
