U.S. wins 2019 Women’s World Cup

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer team won the 2019 World Cup yesterday, defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in Lyon, France.

Megan Rapinoe scored the first goal in a penalty kick, and Rose Lavelle made it 2-0 with a booming kick.

The Netherlands team had several chances for a goal, but the U.S. defense was too much.

Rapinoe won the Golden Ball (top player) and the Golden Boot (top goalscorer). She had a lot of attention and pressure on her because she said in an interview that she wouldn’t go to the f—— White House.

President Trump replied by saying she should win first before she talks.

After the team’s victory yesterday, Trump tweeted a congratulatory tweet and said America is proud of you all.

The U.S. team are also activists, as they sued the U.S. Soccer Federation in March to demand equal pay. There were chants of “equal pay” in the stadium after they won.

The U.S. Women’s team now has four World Cup titles and their second in a row.

The Netherlands’ goalkeeper, Sari Van Veenendaal won the Golden Glove (top goalkeeper).

Jeffrey Epstein indicted for minor sexual abuse

Jeffrey Epstein, who is a billionaire from New York City, was arrested and charged by federal prosecutors from the Southern District of New York with abusing dozens of female minors, as young as 14, at his two homes in Manhattan and Florida.

He is accused of running a sex-trafficking operation in which he would lure underage girls, pay them to do sexual acts, and then tell them to recruit other girls. Investigators said they seized hundreds and possibly thousands of nude photographs of young women at his Manhattan home.

Epstein is a registered sex offender from a case in Florida in 2008 in which he was convicted of soliciting a 16-year old girl to perform sexual acts. He went to jail for 13 months. In that case, he received a secret plea deal from federal prosecutors.

In February a federal judge said the plea deal was illegal because the victims didn’t know about the plea agreement.

One of the prosecutors from 2008 is Alex Acosta, who is the Secretary of Labor in the Trump administration. He used to work in Miami.

If convicted, Epstein faces up to 45 years in prison, which would be a life sentence for him. He is 66 years old.

Multiple news reported that Epstein has friends in high places, such as President Trump, former president Bill Clinton, and Prince Andrew.

Ice cream lickers face criminal charges

A young female went viral after she was filmed licking a half gallon tub of Blue Bell ice cream from a Walmart and putting it back in the freezer. This was in Lufkin, Texas.

Police previously said the suspect could have been charged with second-degree felony tampering and faced up to 20 years in prison.

Now police said they’ve identified and talked with the teenager. She is a juvenile and her name will not be released because she is a minor. The case has been turned over to the Texas Juvenile Justice Department.

Blue Bell said they have removed all of that specific flavor, “Tin Roof,” from that location.

In separate but related news, a 36-year old man from Louisiana was arrested after he was filmed also licking a half gallon of Blue Bell ice cream in a supermarket and putting it back in the freezer.

Investigators said the man showed a receipt that he bought the ice cream, but he was charged with unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity and tampering with property.

In a third related news story, an individual from California posted a video of them drinking from a bottle of Listerine in a Walmart, gargling, and spitting it back into the container. The person later posted pictures of a receipt to show they purchased it.

A Walmart spokesperson said they are investigating it.
