Sources: Howard Rosenblum has resigned as NAD CEO

According to my sources, NAD CEO Howard Rosenblum has resigned as NAD CEO and may be leaving the D.C. metropolitan area. There was recently a farewell party for him.

My understanding is that Howard is resigning because he is unhappy about being placed on administrative leave and the NAD Board’s investigation of his actions surrounding the Super Bowl.

I’ve reached out to the NAD Board to ask about the resignation and whether there would be an announcement about this. The NAD Board said they are unable to comment at this time but once they are able to share information, they would communicate with the communities.

Yesterday, the NAD and its President Jenny Buechner released a video saying that they have “been working on a lot of things behind the scenes.” The board plans to have an in-person meeting in Puerto Rico from April 10-14.

The NAD replied to a comment on Facebook to a person about whether the Super Bowl controversy was swept under the rug. The NAD said, “…it requires time to gather all the information to better understand the full picture…”

So, we may get more clarity on Howard’s status and the NAD Board’s review after this in-person meeting in Puerto Rico.

Exciting News! The 988 Lifeline launched new American Sign Language services for callers who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. It’s a new resource for people to access help when they need it. Visit 988lifeline.org and select “ASL Now.”

I saw that the NAD clarified in the comments section that the 14 NAD Board members are paying for the travel expenses to Puerto Rico by themselves as a part of their volunteer contribution as a Board member.

If it is official that Howard is resigning, it is not clear what may happen next regarding the NAD CEO position.

The NAD is planning to host their national conference in Chicago this July 1-6.

That’s all the information that I have to share for now.
