Man arrested for throwing cans at Sen. Cruz

Sen. Ted Cruz was a part of the Houston Astros’ World Series victory parade on Monday. A 33-year-old man allegedly threw two beer cans toward the senator with one of the cans striking his neck and chest area.

The suspect, Joseph Arcidiacono, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was released after posting a $40,000 bond.

Prosecutors said a witness saw Joseph run up to a barrier wall at the parade and throw two cans toward Cruz and grabbed him and escorted him to officers. The witness said Joseph said, “I know, I’m an idiot. I’m sorry.”

SAT tests fly off UPS truck

In El Paso, Texas, a UPS truck that was carrying a batch of completed SAT tests from a high school somehow lost them on a busy street, sending about 200 test papers strewn all over the road.

A few days later there was a meeting at the El Paso High School in which school officials informed high school seniors that they would have to retake their SATs. There were some tests that did not get lost, but the entire batch is considered compromised. Some students said they were frustrated because they are trying to meet college application deadlines or because the test is stressful.

UPS said they are investigating and have issued an apology to the school and the high school students.

Trump plans “very big” announcement on Nov. 15

Former President Trump said last night that he will be making a very big announcement on November 15 at his Mar-a-Lago home. Many believe that Trump will officially announce a presidential run.

Trump said at a rally in Iowa on Thursday that “In order to make our country successful and safe and glorious, I will very, very, very probably do it again… Get ready that’s all I’m telling you — very soon. Get ready.”

Axios said the results of the midterm elections will reveal what kind of power Trump has as a “kingmaker” depending on the success of his endorsed candidates.

Zelenskyy says he’s open to peace talks with Russia

AP News reported that Ukraine’s president Zelenskyy said he is open to sitting down with Russia for peace talks as long as three demands are met: the return of all of Ukraine’s occupied lands, compensation for war damage, and the prosecution of war crimes.

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Linda Thomas-Greenfield said “Russia started this and Russia can end this, and they can end it by pulling their troops out and stopping committing the atrocities that they are committing against the Ukrainian people.”

AP said there continue to be battles, shelling, and deaths in eastern Ukraine.

Total lunar eclipse

This early morning there was a total lunar eclipse that was visible throughout North America. The sun, Earth, and moon lined up perfectly. The full moon turned a reddish color because of the effects of the sun’s rays scattering off Earth’s atmosphere. NASA said it is sometimes called a “Blood Moon.”

Many people on social media posted images of a red moon. The next total lunar eclipse is in March 2025.
