“A Quiet Place II” to be released in theaters on May 28

“A Quiet Place Part II,” starring deaf actress Millicent Simmons, will be available in theaters on May 28, 2021. It will be available to stream on Paramount+ 45 days afterwards.

The film was supposed to be released last spring, but it was postponed several times because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Millicent will continue in her role as Regan, who is the only deaf child of a family that is trying to survive a world conquered by monsters that have advanced ears and use it to catch prey who makes any kind of sound.

The film’s star, Emily Blunt told Syfy in an interview last year that Regan’s role is expanded and that her “disability becomes the answer” in how the family is to confront the world.

We remember that in the first film — spoiler alert — that Regan’s cochlear implants created some kind of high-frequency sound that makes the monsters incapacitated and vulnerable to bullets.

A film review by “The Guardian” said Regan’s character ventures out in the world to try and find other survivors and uses the same technique with her hearing devices to weaken the monsters.

Another review in BBC said Regan’s character turns from a child in the first film to a “gun-toting take-charge heroine” in the second film.

Millicent told Syfy last year that she does feel pressure because she is representing deaf people. She explained that she has an ASL coach to make sure her signs were clear and clean.

It will be Millicent’s third time on the big screen — with her first film being “Wonderstruck.”

So, if you’re feeling like it’s safe to go to a theater, you can watch the film starting next Friday.
